Undercover Surrealism brought together the works of great avant-garde figures under the sign of the long-overlooked philosopher and ‘dissident’ surrealist Georges Bataille and of his journal Documents.
The exhibition catalogue, edited by Dawn Ades and Simon Baker and with essays by Neil Cox, Caroline Hancock, Denis Hollier, William Jeffett, C.F.B. Miller, Michael Richardson, and Ian Walker was awarded The Art Newspaper & AXA Award Catalogue of the Year.

Artists' Residency:
The Argentinean artist Jorge Macchi was the Centre's artist in residence in 2006. Working with the composer Edgardo Rudnitzky, Jorge Macchi created two new installations: The Singers' Room and Twilight.
